Simex awarded $4M to Supply Life Support Units
Simex was awarded a multi-year contract worth over $4 Million to supply the Canadian Navy with oxygen-generating breathing devices. The devices are breathing masks manufactured by AVOX Systems especially for use on board ships. The first 800 units will be delivered before the end of 2015, with an option on another 800 per year for the coming 3 years.
The breathing mask has several outstanding features. It is a 15-minute self contained, completely disposable breathing unit, and is light weight with a compact design, making it easy to store and transport. In addition, the mask has a solid-state chemical oxygen generator supply source with no oxygen loss during storage, has at least a 10-year shelf life, and requires minimum maintenance.
The masks are intended for use as emergency escape breathing devices on board Canadian Navy ships, including the Victoria and Halifax class ships.
Simex is proud to be partnering with Avox Systems once more to supply the Canadian Forces with an innovative and reliable product that will help protect and save lives.
AVOX Systems provides respiratory systems and components for both military and commercial aircraft and ships.
