Simex awarded contract for Stinger Booms
Simex Defence was awarded a contract by the Canadian Department of National Defence for 140 Stinger Booms to outfit all 123 recovery vehicles used by the Canadian Army. The remaining 17 booms will be kept as spares. These recovery vehicles are used extensively by the army for all types of recovery, as well as in combat zones and to support allies.
The new booms – both the inner crane section and outer stinger boom – were specifically designed to fit the recovery vehicles used by the Canadian Army. In order to ensure it fit right, a prototype was first built and tested over 3 days at a Canadian Forces base by the manufacturer and Simex representatives.
With some minor modification to the design required, the booms will be delivered to the army during the summer 2013.
We are proud to support the needs of the Canadian Department of National Defence and the members of the armed forces.
