Simex awarded multi-year contract for batteries
Simex Defence was awarded a 3-year contract by the Canadian Department of National Defence to supply up to 600 non-rechargeable batteries per year.
The batteries are for the specific use in survival kits for aircraft, life raft, desert conditions or air dropped from aircraft, as well as in survivor locator beacons.
They have a long shelf life and possess the unique combination of being non-flammable and lightweight, as well as having high power density and operating in a very wide temperature range. While conventional batteries fail when temperatures drop below zero, this specific type of battery works in extreme conditions and can withstand a temperature range of -55°C to +85°C.
Furthermore, their output is very stable, which is very important when the lives of soldiers depend on them.
